Geez, Rick (the keeper of this forum),
Lighten up. What are you, the Mother Superior here? The writer described what he observed in the vicinity of Deep Creek Hot Springs. Censorship in his case is inappropriate.

Boomboxes at the hot springs are a disgraceful violation of the music of Mother Nature. I remember a time several decades ago when a stoned visitor was crossing the creek carrying a boombox playing "Truckin" by the Grateful Dead at a cacophonous level that would offend even Jerry Garcia (I liked the song and The Grateful Dead both then and now, but not at Deep Creek Hot Springs). The crashing sound and its carrier were headed toward The Womb where a group of 6 or 7 skinny dippers, including me, were viewing the approaching intruder with great alarm. All of a sudden the stoned carrier of the fiendish noisemaker stumbled and he and the boombox submerged into the creek. The delighted crowd in The Womb broke into applause. The sounds of nature were ours again.

In 1971, the creek in summer was but a trickle running through a creek bed of rich, soft sand. A beautiful, naked young woman, a student at that time at Santa Ana High School, sat at the edge of the tiny creek and began playing the music of Joni Mitchell on an autoharp. In seconds the girl's rich, strong voice meshed with the instrument's tones as she sang and played Joni's music. Within minutes a small group gathered around her and one of them, a young man, pulled a classical flute from his pack and expertly began to play counterpuntal sounds around the Mitchell melodies. Soon, the crowd, all in birthday suits and loving the music and atmosphere, joined voices with the young singer as she sang just about all of the music Joni Mitchell had produced up to that time. I still get chills up my spine as I recall that wonderful, impromptu concert.

Sex at the hot springs is normal just about all the time, but most folks know that there are uncounted places in the vicinity of Deep Creek Hot Springs where folks can be private and still be passionate. At the end of the sixties until 2005, or so, the majority of visitors went naked. They weren't "Nudist Colonists," they were, and are, people who are completely comfortable wearing the outfit they were born in. Nude is not sexual unless the naked person allows or wills it. Most of the time when people start "getting it on" near the rest of us, they are stopped and asked to take their inappropriate acts up or down stream where privacy is plentiful.

During a long stretch of years, nakedness was the dominant culture at the springs. Within the last 5 or 6 years, younger visitors tend to be "Textiles," those who choose to be clothed. In my observations, the longer "textiles" visit the Deep Creek Hot Springs environment, the more likely they are to begin not wearing textile coverings.

My last point: Yes, older men and sometimes older women visit the hot springs and vicinity. Some of them appear grouchy and I can think of several who probably are grouchy, but after several or more decades, the human epidermis ages and gets wrinkled. When the older person thinks he or she is just sitting quietly enjoying the serenity and warmth of the hot pool, younger people might take that wrinkled skin visage as a sign of grumpiness. Let us be... we'll be dead and gone in another twenty or thirty years and you'll be...wrinkled and grumpy looking.
