Hey! Looks like my yammering paid off. ;-)
I also found out that Sycamore trees WILL also sprout from a stick. At my Mom's house we cleaned up a bunch of decaying leaves and such from her Sycamore trees before the last rains.
There was a 1-1/2" x 12" log in there under about a foot of mulch and it started sending up shoots and had developed quite a root system!
