BLM and the local ranger station had contracted Salime Aviation - the company that provides services to local law enforcement (helicopters etc) to fly over the springs a couple of times a day and take high res pictures of campers and fire starters. I know a guy who got a ticket once he got to the parking lot. The rangers were just waiting there with the transmitted images of his offense.
The state is so broke, law enforcement is asked to increased ticketing as the means of paying for the fat benefits and pensions. They are on a lookout for any offense. So, no matter how small and safe your stove is, you will be ticketed.
