The family and I spent the day at Deep Creek yesterday and we came across two Rattlesnakes during our hike. We also saw a couple of Horned Toads and I caught one of them to check out more closely. Our daughters and their friend had fun catching Poliwogs in still pools of water near the creek. The stream was running higher from the snowmelt and it was quite chilly at 52 degrees. The trees are sprouting their new leaves and there are abundant flowers on the hillsides, including in places beautiful Lupines. As we hiked out of the canyon it was quite windy and cool as a weather front was beginning to affect our area late in the day. With the warming weather people will be visiting the creek more so watch your step, the the Rattlesnakes have woken from their winter slumber :-)
