Rick (this forum is your place afterall), Wizard, Jobe and Paul and all other long time contributors,
I am in total concord with you... it isn't about trash, it's about the 'morans' our society has graduated. They have no concern about the environment because they are so concerned about themselves. I will do this! I will go to Deep Creek Hot Springs, drink a 24 pack of beer, smoke 3 bags of medical stuff, piss in the pool and leave!
What the springs needs is for us to look and enjoy, sit in the water and take outeverything we bring, pick up a little of the 'morans' stuff and leave before dark. If we do anything else we are distroying the environment in that area. Even visiting it, we are altering it. Wizard spent many long articles sharing his environmental concerns over the years and I simply state that if you want to go to the Springs you must follow the Forestry Service rules or we will lose it in the future. It isn't about freedom, it's about the endangered frogs, the high levels of e-coli in the creek and the amount of trash that 'morans' bring in that won't happen if its a locked up wilderness. Coyote's place over the last 10 years includes hauling out trash and understanding what it takes to protect this spiritual place. Mark G, get over you lack of understanding and ego centric statements. Listen to the community and learn. Pick up the trash and enjoy the area. We all want you to be able to visit the springs. Just be an adult and understand the rules are there to protect the place so you can come back next time.
