I arrived at the Freedom trail head at 7:30am. When I got there the sun was shining and I saw the largest road runner I have had the pleasure to see ever. He was more than 3 feet long and 3 feet high. So I parked at my regular spot and headed to the bush he disappeared behind. I went up hill from him and he seemed to forage around for food a little. Then he would disappear behind a bush again. This continued on for @ 30 minuets until we came to a semi-cliff where he flew several hundred feet into the valley below. I took this to mean he did not enjoy my company as much as I enjoyed his and returned to my truck.
It was 9:00am when I arrived at the springs to find the springs deserted except for 1 guy in the Arizona pool and 2 people sleeping on the beach. I soaked a little before reading my Scientific American magazine. Then about 6 couples showed up and the sleeping couple all appeared in the pools so I joined them. Every one was nude and we all had very good conversations.
At 12:00 noon I got my thermometer out to see what the temps were.
The outside air temp was 74.8 degrees.
The creek where most cross at the temperature was 52.1 degrees. About 5 feet upstream from the Arizona pool it was 50.5 degrees.
All pool temps are near the surface and close to their middle.
The Arizona pool was 107 degrees.
The Anniversary pool was 105.4 degrees. The Anniversary pool was exceptionally clean and some one has put some large boulders in front of it..
The womb was 99.1 degrees.
The serenity pool was 103.4 degrees.
The Crab cooker was 114.2 degrees.
After this many more tourist arrived and it seemed like every one was enjoying the beautifull weather. Then several school teachers showed up for their first time. So I educated them about the history and unique features of the springs. It was odd however because they were almost the only ones wearing clothes.
There was no sign of Scotty or the mess he left. Nor could I find any trash for my trash bag to carry out :~)
Another beautiful day to be at the springs.
