I thought this may be worth reposting. Comments please?
I care about the future of the Springs. I also care that we have the right people representing our views, too.
I don't know how you work these kinds of things out. There's only a few people who go to the BLM (and other) meetings, but sometimes the real issues look like they're getting side-tracked when the subject changes to private real estate disputes and alleged criminal activities.
I think this forum is a great place to hash out some of the issues, recognizing that face to face would be better, but I live a long ways away, as do many of you I suspect. But, so long as I am a visitor at the Springs, I would hope that my voice could be heard right along side everyone else's to help 'steer' the direction of the Springs.
I know there's a lot of 'regulars' at the Springs who may be involved, but if they don't post here, how would we know of the current issues? My fear may be unfounded, but if things are left to the people who've made suggestions for improved roads, bathrooms, camping areas, and law enforcement presence, I think the future of DCHS is in it's final days.

My 'official' opinion:
Keep the gov't as far from the Springs as possible. They WILL restrict our liberties if they get further involved. It's their job. It's what they do.
The roads are fine. Trash is a non-existant problem thanks to volunteers. Violence is rare. My car is safe. The parking fee is reasonable. There are alternate ways to get there. I'd pretty much like to see things stay just the way they are.
I say work WITH the gov't to get them to agree to allow civilians to manage the Springs, a concept I understand they really like anyways.
