Mellowguy regarding this you wrote, " I guess we sharply disagree about basic courtesy ", we have been talking about a " specific " idea of courtesy, not the whole range of possible ideas one might have of just what is basic courtesy. You have no way of knowing what my opinions are on the myriad ideas of " basic courtesy ". We are dealing with just one point here.

This " amount of time " parameter holds importance from your point of view. Do you see anything about length of time soaking in the DCV information? Do you think the Naturist Society discusses anything in their literature about courteous soaking times in hotpools? Maybe you can show us where this is but really I'd guess its based on your own opinions, or other expressed opinions that you feel support these thoughts of yours. Is it written somewhere that if I soak three hours in a hotpool under the circumstances described by you that I'm courteous, but if I soak 4 hours then I'm not cool?

I have been visiting DCHS since 1984 and I can truly say that I've never had any experience that was like what you describe, this type of situation your so concerned about, and I've been to DCHS a whole lot of times. What is this " Golden Rule ". Best I can tell it involves your own made up interpretations of DCV material or that of the Naturist Society.

This bit about the " Strawman " is getting old. You may feel my ideas miss your point, but it has nothing to do with me trying to erect your so called Strawman as a means for my argumentation. I'm just plain and simple expressing my own thoughts about your comments. Bottom line, your expressed ideas here are not going to change the basic goings on at DCHS. What is occurring there is resultant from the evolving changes in the basic society around the area, and even being affected by whats going on in the greater society. Go ahead and try and push this idea down at DCHS, being it just with yourself, or even if you hook up with some others. What you will get is lots of arguments and likely worse on occasion. I can see it now, you trying to convince some single person to leave a hotpool because of your important time parameter and given conditions, telling the person that they are beyond the time limit for soaking. Good luck with that :-)

None of what I have said here means whatsoever that I like the jerks of all types that visit this special oasis. In fact I visit less often these days because of my disdain for seeing the many ways the fools tarnish this beautiful sanctuary. My first date with my wife was at DCHS, and three years later on another visit there we decided to get married. I've got countless great memories of wonderful times there, involving many romantic experiences as well. But I would never expect someone to leave a hotpool for what you have suggested.

Like I said before, if you want to leave a hotpool because of the circumstance you describe, then fine, clearly I don't think anyone is going to think ill of you for that. But I don't think you can realistcally expect that what you have said here on this subject will change anything noticably about how things occur at DCHS. Its like when we were active in the DCV group for around five years, you can tell people no camping, no glass, no night time usage, no fires, hand out flyers with all of the " rules " and the truth is there are just too many people, way too many, that have no interest whatsoever in following the " rules ", no matter how reasonable or legal they may be. You would run into the same thing if you ever really tried to push what you speak of at DCHS. Give it a try and you will see what I mean soon enough. You have a whole lot of differant people who visit there, with all their own ideas on things, and they all come on a wide range of differant schedules and have varied thoughts on just what they intend on doing with thier time. So what are you going to do, put a bill board up with your " Golden Rule "? Are you going to stay down there 24-7, put on a DCHS Sherrifs badge and jump peoples case everytime they break your " Golden Rule "? You can talk here about how you wish it would be down there, but the reality on the ground is un-tethered from your wishes. Any of your efforts regarding this would be for all practical purposes futile.

But all is not lost, you ( or anyone you can convince ) can abide by your " Golden Rule ". This you CAN do at the very least. But I think you would be naive to think that your going to change the broader spectrum of visitor interaction at DCHS.
