"Forget the hot springs. Access to Olympic Hot Springs in Olympic National Park has been made difficult by road closures for trail rehabilitation that will continue until significant snowfall.
Workers will remove a 2.2-mile section of the former Boulder Creek Road and install foot bridges.
Upper Hot Springs Road and Boulder Creek Trail in the Elwha Valley are closed until snow stops construction.
Hikers may reach the Olympic Hot Springs from the Sol Duc Trail via Appleton Pass. The drawback is the route to the springs is 13 miles with a 2,500-foot change in elevation. Call 360-565-3100 for more information.
