I've been hiking in to the springs since Mrs. Bowen and her daughter still lived there. I knew all of the groups, good and bad, who later lived at the ranch and Moss Mill. William, the last resident of Moss Mill, was a nice, quirky guy who insisted that charging people to hike in to the springs was wrong. I parked on Moss Mill land many times and never saw a vehicle harmed.
Let's cut out the mini-war and come to the table. Our common goal is to preserve our beloved hot springs as a place to enjoy. The trashing of the place has been going on for at least 32 years and it's the work of a few dedicated souls who have kept it from looking like a land fill. We must have agreement on things we can all do to further common goals and keep DCHS from being, in Joni Mitchell's words, "a tree museum", kept out of reach by the many authority groups who govern the springs and its approaches and who most probably see many of us as a threat.
