So Laughing Bear when you wrote " I dont believe this latest tale is accurate ", are you talking about the story I told of the USFS Ranger witnessing Mike beat the crap out of some local while the other law enforcement people stood by and watched? Perhaps you are referring to Jobes recent accounting of the lady's encounter with Mike. I know back during the times of the high angst involved with the intrusions into the Indian areas of Juniper flats by the illegal moto trail you had some pretty negative things to say about Mike Castro during all of that. Its in the DCHS Forum archives. Remember that? Mike has perpetrated plenty of very negative deeds in his time occupying the Bowen Ranch, its no lie and it happened.

Of course things are more mellow now that Mike Castro got his way getting the old open BLM route through the Moss Mill closed with the aid of the scumbag BLM Ranger Barry Nelson. At one time years ago before Mike began to lease the ranch he used to hang at the Moss Mill and used to say that people should come through there, and didn't need to pay those Bowen Ranch people. Then when he got the Ranch boy did he do a flip flop about that! He then cited that all those bad people going through the Moss Mill were breaking the law and crossing his property, even though there were BLM signs showing this road as an open public route. He even stopped my wife and me a couple of times telling us we shouldn't be on that road. I finally had to call the BLM about these intstances of a private citizen ( Mike ) stopping me on an open public route. I talked to one of the people that was with Mike and others when they one night rolled all the big rocks onto the old Moss Mill Rd to block it, while it was signed as an open public route. And don't try and tell me that he didn't do it because there is only one person up there that would have any interest in doing that! Then after the Willow Fire Mike once again got his way influencing the shutting of the old easier way on the west side of the Bowen Ranch down to the USFS parking area on USFS trail 3W02. That left the longer and more difficult road route it now takes to get there, requiring four wheel drive, just the way Mike wanted it. Its always been about getting people to go through the Bowen Ranch, getting people to pay.

Mike thought for a time after the Willow Fire that finally he had sealed off all the routes basically to DCHS ( from the north Bowen Ranch side ) except for the Ranch access. Then people started hiking and talking about the Freedom Trail route and Mike went bonkers. Low and behold a number of cars after that ended up with shot out windows. I wonder who would have done that? I wonder who would want to discourage people from using that trail to DCHS? Mike used to ride his motorcycle all over the place out there stirring up this or that with people, brandishing his handgun at times, like he somehow was some kind of official, like he owned the whole area. He is just like all the other nefarious characters that operated the Bowen Ranch Toll business after the true Bowen's left. I am not interested either in going round and round about all of this like we did here at the DCHS Forum years ago but lots of us regulars who know Mikes earlier history of overt, aggressive and at times downright dangerous behavior will not just forget this. So what if some people only know Mike's good side just paying him his fee and parking on his property, that doesn't wash away what he has done in the past, even as much as he would want the memory of it to be gone and buried. His bad Karma will bring him his just reward in the end.
