Mikeh, I wasn't trying to be hard-core, but illegal camping at the springs can lead to possible closure of the springs. Desert Hiker listed some reasons why camping by Deep Creek is not cool. In summary:
- Potential fires are a serious issue
- Disposal of human waste is a serious issue
- Trash (i.e. lack of packing out what you pack in) is a serious issue
- Both light and noise from illegal camping disrupts wildlife habitat
- Risk of accidents higher at night due to intoxicants and ingestion of illegal substances
And why risk getting a hefty fine?
Bowen Ranch has plenty of suitable camping terrain.
