I agree with Paul-v, Camping at the creek is illegal and can be costly if you get caught, have heard of recent visits by rangers and ticket issued - " at your own risk ". I have heard of vandalism and cars getting broken into and " NO " fires at Freedom as well as a much more difficult hike but shorter in distance. I feel Bowen is the best place. Camp spots with tables and fire rings. It cost's $5.00 per person per day or $10.00 per night. I feel more comfortable there not worrying about possible problems with my car and stuff left out. Never heard or any problems at Bowen. Good luck in whatever you decide and have a great day at the springs.
