I have read several sources that say camping is not allowed within a 1 mile distance from the hot springs (e.g. wikipedia and US Forest Service for DCHS) along with other rules. Can someone please let me know where it is possible to camp near the hot springs and how to set up a reservation (if necessary?) or is it first come first serve.
In the past for other camping trips I have set up camping reservations online through website sites such as ReserveAmerica.com and Recreation.gov, or just obtained a wilderness pass. Is it possible to reserve through either site, or do I just need a wilderness pass. I've seen the directions and I pretty sure I can get to the place, but essentially I am looking for where to stay when my group get there.
Additionally, is there a time or a season when the area is not super busy? From what I have gathered from the postings, it is regular busy?
