Rather have the snakes than the (few) obnoxious people I've run into at DCHS. I spent a lot of time in the summer/fall of 2009, and a little of 2010 in Deep Creek canyon, and unfortunately, only saw about three snakes...one garter snake, one very small, unidentified snake near my campsite at dusk, and one non-poisonous snake on the PCT, obviously killed by human hands. Back home in Arkansas, snakes are an everyday thing, including our western diamondbacks. I even had a garter snake visit inside my office the other day. I picked it up and took it back outside. I made sure that my boss knew all about it, though. He's terrified of all snakes...I'd rather have the snakes in my office than him! LOL
