Wizard, a friend of mine lives in rattlesnake country in inland San Diego, and she has six dogs ranging from a Chihuahua to a Husky. She put all her dogs through Rattlesnake Aversion Training. Basically it utilizes a mild shock collar that negatively associates the sight, sound, and smell of a rattlesnake. It works great! I believe this type of training is offered in Apple Valley/Antelope Valley/Hesperia, so you may want to consider it for your dogs.
A guy got bit by a baby rattler about a month ago at Blacks Beach. I was running on the beach at the time and saw this guy limping badly.Him and his friend didn't have a phone, so I called 911 and the ambulance met them at Torrey Pines Park and took him to Emergency. He ended up being OK, but the doctor said it was close.
