I drove to the Bowen ranch just after 9:00 am this morning and thought the ranch was very pretty with the snow every where. So , I got out of my truck and took a couple of pictures of it. Before this , as I drove up Bowen ranch rd. I wondered IF Mike was still angry with me. I wondered if I drove up to the gate if Mike would talk to me .???
Before I got to the ranch I saw a sign where the Bowen ranch property begins that said " AREA CLOSED."
Looking at the snow you could see that no cars or trucks had been there for a while. As I got out to take my picture of the ranch Mike came out the back door yelling, " Get the F___ out of here!" He continued cussing and yelling like a MAD MAN. I'll spare the expletives.
As I continued on the Bowen ranch by pass route the snow was almost 2 feet deep and only 1 other person had attempted this route. This other person only made it half way to the trail head and then turned around. I made it to @ 1/4 of a mile from the trail head and parked.
When I started this trip I planed on posting my pictures here. However, I lost my camera carrying bag that has my computer cable in it. I took 60-80 pictures of the hot spring area. Some very good and telling. I will go to Radio shack when I finish here and try to get a computer cable. If they have one I will post the pictures here soon.
I expected the creek to be over the big pool. When I got there the creek was as high as the lower pool. Not even over the crab cooker, much to my surprise. The creek had been higher than this earlier because the new mud was @ 10 feet higher above the Arizona pool. I have pictures of this. The Arizona pool was flooded and it was hard to tell by how much, however.
I took my new thermometer out and put it out into the creek as far as I could reach, the temp was 34.1 degrees. The outside air temp on the beach was 46.3 degrees.
I took these temps and pictures from 9:50 - 10:30. Then, fearing an attack from the Growler I headed back up the trail. As I was going up to the trail head I came across GrEg M. who post here some times. We had @ a 40 minuet conversation and he had made it to the trail head in his truck. I also saw 6 cows grazing on the hill just above the Bowen ranch trail. They did not mind me taking their picture.
As I headed back into town at least 25 trucks and cars were heading to the ranch.
GLAD 2 HELP!
