Rivernude,
Yes that is the correct pool. It is call the Arizona pool 1) it is closer to Arizona. 2) A guy from Arizona used to work on it a lot.
It used to have some sand bags on the up stream side that helped block the creek water from coming into the pool. When the force from the creek builds on the upstream side it cools the pool. The sandbags that used to be there are not there now. Some large boulders that were not there before are there now. Probably the recent rains put them there. They are helping to block some of the water force there now. But the pool does not build up enough to let the pool flow over the dam.
Ideally a cement patch should permanently fix this. But sand bags should help until then. I used to have some sand bags stashed in my hiding spot but, they are gone. Next time I go I will bring some w/me to help fix the breach.
The sand on the beach has washed away @ 10-12 feet in height from the creek. There are exposed roots there now.
As for those cows. Things are not always what they seem. Area ranchers pay a 59$ permit fee to the Barstow BLM field office to get permission from them to let their cows graze in the area for 1 year. They replenish the soil with vital nutrients that the buffalo used to do before us Europeans settled here. They also decrease the fire threat by eating sparse vegetation.
It would take an act of congress or a bribe to the BLM Area Field Director to change these rules.
Just because you city dwellers are not used to the crap associated with domestic cattle. Is not a good reason to complain. Because even when you do the crap remains the same. All ways has and always will. Until the next earth age comes into being. Where by we will have spirit bodies and not all of this crap we have been dealing with for millenniums.
Thanks for helping with the trash, keep up the good works.
Hope to see you there this weekend.
Happy holy days !
