This sounds like Arlo Guthrie and Alice's Restaurant! "Yes, officer Obie, I placed that letter under that pile of garbage...". All kidding aside, it's hard to understand how people can trash a place they, or their family, are likely to go. How about the broken glass at the springs. My personal "favorite" is the one-day wonders that go out on the first day of trout season here in CT. I usually go home with my creel filled with more trash than fish, like discarded line, bait cans, styrofoam coffee cups, candy and sandwich wrappers, hooks (Ouch!) and much more. Actually, I do catch-and-release, even where it's not required. Some of my most awesome experiences were on days where I didn't even get a hit, like the day I felt like I was being watched. I looked around and saw, directly across the brook from me 5 fox pups (kits?) sitting lined up on a fallen log whatching me. I guess they were waiting for dinner. Being kids they finally got bored waiting for the loser fisherman, started pushing, shoving and rolling around and took off. Amazing... And there was no trash in sight, either! Boy, do I miss those unspoiled days...
