Rick, Are you advising camping on forest service land just outside Bowen? I do have a 4X4 diesel truck. What about leaving the truck at Bowen (concerned about the risk of vandalism, however rare), then when it's time to set up camp, drive down to the USFS parking lot and camp there. If so, do I get there via Bowen? I usually try to do a recon trip first, but since DCHS is about 3 hours away...
