Wizard is right.
The Forest Service rules state "No Camping is permitted within 1 mile of Deep Creek. "
Note that this refers to Deep Creek, not just the hot springs.
The rules also state: "No fires, campfires or stoves allowed in the Deep Creek Drainage."

In addition, there is a seasonal ban on all fires outside of developed campgrounds:
"Wood and charcoal campfires are allowed only in developed campgrounds, picnic areas within agency-provided fire rings / designated stoves. Campfires are not allowed anywhere else at any time of the year"

There have been a number of wildfires that have come very close to DCHS in the last few years.
