Can't imagine what has changed to those weekends I would go, only two, three, four years ago, and with 30-40 people at the springs almost all would be nude (and relatively mellow/respectful/friendly! as these things seem to go together.
Just my humble opinion and based on observation, but I think a lot of the problems now at Deep Creek are spillover problems from an overpopulated urban area loaded with uneducated kids who think that being in a gang is great. These kids lack respect for virtually anything above and beyond their own instant gratification. I've noticed that a lot of these "problem" teens and 20 somethings at Deep Creek are not very intelligent. If you couple that with alcohol and drugs and joblessness, you've got a recipe for disaster.
I'm not offering any solutions because I don't have any. It's just unfortunate that these types spoil it for everybody else. And ultimately, if something serious happens at Deep Creek like somebody getting stabbed or shot, then the potential exists for the Forest Service to close access to the springs.
