I heard from a trusted friend that one of the DCHS regulars recently hiked down to the springs after passing through the Bowen Ranch. He saw a truck parked at the Forest Service lot near the head of the goat trail and saw that a group of rowdy young men had just left the truck and started down the trail toward the creek and hot springs. The regular followed the group for a while when he smelled the distinctive oder of spray paint. Alarmed, he caught up with the rear of the group and saw one of them spraying rocks along the trail. The observing regular quickly hiked to a high spot and phoned the Forest Service, informing them of the observed behavior. After a while a person, reportably from the USFS, showed up, but without backup would not go down the trail to apprehend the culprits. He recorded the truck's out-of-state license number, but without timely apprehension any crimes committed will not be addressed,
What on earth can we do to to protect our long loved refuge?
