I ran across one in the rocks to the right of the crab cooker last fall. It was around the corner and nestled on one of the ledges at knee level next to where we all get around. These Pacifics are not generally agressive but don't bother them and be on watch. The one I saw was no more than 10 inches from my leg and very disinterested in me. He moved and put his head back down. That was a good encounter. No harm, no foul. I moved slowly away and all was well.
