Regarding the cattle, I came across 13 of them down at Deep Creek on 12-19 when I did a hike to DCHS in the snow up the PCT from the Mojave Forks dam area. They were near Deep Creek close to where Kinely Creek and Deep Creek connect. I sent photo and e-mail to a USFS Ranger who deals with these issues, and also indicated that as these cows travel around the do get on the established trails and damage them in places. The Ranger sent me back an e-mail letting me know that the USFS have no grazing allotments for cattle in their lands in that area, so the cattle most likely got out of the BLM grazing allotment area around the Bowen Ranch / Juniper Flats area. If you see cattle or their damage anywhere near Deep Creek you can report it to the Sky Forest Ranger station.
