Jobe,If you have studied the history of the area (Juniper Flats),you couldn't fail to realize that DCHS inc. was created solely as a vendetta against Mike Castro. It was dreamed up by William Schweiss, a man who squatted on the nearby sequestered BLM property for years(All of this is a matter of public record,by the way).When the property became available for lease 11 years ago, Mike Castro obviously had the means with which to purchase it. William Schweiss did not. Mr. Schweiss was eventually convicted of trespass,evicted , and the dwelling he built for himself bulldozed. I'm guessing he wasn't too happy about this. Again, a matter of public record.If property is for sale or lease and one has the money,anything is possible. Why did he not lease it himself ? When it came up for sale last year,why did he not make a bid to purchase it ? I put it to anyone who looks at this website that DCHS inc. will never leave this issue alone and will bring so much negative attention to the springs that they will help shut them down.
This is not the revolutionary war.Noone has blocked access to the hot springs anywhwere out there except across legally owned private property.I think half the people who read this would have wheelchair access to the place if you could. Its beautiful because it is remote and difficult to walk to. If you are not physically fit enough, don't go. If your kids or self can't hike there on the very accessible and well established trails-don't go. Noone invited any of us to screw up nature. Lets leave it how it is or get ourselves together and purchase our own private property nearby.
