Since we were not there when the shooting occurred, how would we know whether it was self-defense or not? There have been several people in SB County who have not been charged in a shooting due to self-defense circumstances.
So, I am reserving judgment on this matter until the facts are presented in court.
As to the SB County judicial system, yes the defendant has a right to speedy trial, however, the prosecution normally drags its feet in getting the defendant the evidence that will be used against them so they can prepare for trial. I have seen criminal cases drag on for years and years. Actually 8 years on two cases that I know of.
