The anwser to that question is yes, during mating season terantulas go hiking. Last year I saw more than 100 around Gold strike hot springs, hiking. Today, while there I saw two in the lower cave pool. Also some passers by reported seeing one on the trail while hiking into the springs area. He/she was hiking also. The passers by's terrier dog was very upset by these odd creatures.
