Incredulous, That name is way too long. I'm going to call you Cred to make things " easy " :-) You spoke in an earlier post about the idea that the best things in life are " sometimes " not the easiest to obtain, referencing the act of accessing DCHS. The hike To DCHS from the Route 3 trail is almost identical in time to the hike from the Forestry parking lot. So there is no lesson learned for your kids in regards to the differance in these two hikes. Since you feel so stronly that the harder it is to reach DCHS, then that creates a more worthy experience, why don't you hike your little springers from the Mohave Dam. Just think of the increased sense of satisfaction for them. Heck why stop there, hike them in to the springs all the way from the Big Bear Lake area. Oh boy, I can see that they are going to have fun and be proud to boot :-) As far as ease of access to where I park on Route 3. It takes me almost 20 minutes more to drive there once I pass the Bowen Ranch. The Forestry parking lot is essentially not used presently because of the rough road. Well have to talk more when a " flood " of people start parking where I do as Mike Castro has suggested, however you may be waiting for that to happen for quite a long time because " ease " of access is the situation that exist at the Bowen Ranch.
