A man and a woman were found shot dead off 3N14 last Sunday. Sheriff's deputies investigating a report of illegal target shooting discovered the bodies.

A man and his terminally ill wife were found shot to death as a result of a murder-suicide, officials announced Monday morning.


A citizen called authorities about a suspicious vehicle on Coxey Truck Trail southeast of Bowen Ranch Road at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, according to sheriff’s officials.


Deputies from the San Bernardino County sheriff’s Victor Valley station found the bodies of Margaret Susan Ellis, 42, and her husband Terry Royston Archibald, 57, both of Apple Valley, according to authorities.


It appears Ellis, who had recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer, was first shot in the Dodge Ram pick-up and Archibald shot himself outside of the vehicle, according to sheriff’s officials.


Investigators are not confirming that Ellis’s terminal disease was the motivation for the shooting, according to officials.


Sheriff’s Homicide Detail will be investigating the incident"
