Thats right Jobe, you live in Vegas. I'll e-mail Kunstler to call of the air strike immediately :-) I think your friend's advice is sound. Trading our increasingly depreciating paper monopoly money for actual implements that can help one survive is a very wise choice. Thing is though, as our worldwide situation continues to devolve, and social cohesivness begins to degrade substantially, it presents the reality that keeping yourself and family safe, and maintaining " ownership " and " usage " of your land, your survival implements, etc, will be more and more problematic since there will clearly be parties that will have no qualms about taking your resources, by whatever means they wish. My latest purchase regarding these issues is a one year, four person, dried food supply sealed in buckets. I just got back from a week trip up in Oregon, staying in a small community called Welches, on HWY 26 just west of Mt Hood. People in areas like that definitely have more survival options with the abundant water, forest, and general lushness of the area. However Portland and its surrounding vicinity has tons of people so even folks who have prepared themselves back further into the woods will still be endangered by the masses who will have no clue, and no means whatsoever to cope with the ongoing meltdown. I still think preparing in all the ways you sensibly can is something everyone needs to be doing, right now. The alarm bells are ringing loudly on so many fronts but still the masses generally have thier Ostrich heads buried deeply in the sands of ignorance regarding these looming grave issues. This whole worldwide mess is incredibly complicated, and staying as informed as you can reasonably be on the developments hopefully can provide one with the knowledge to stay a bit ahead of the curve of these massive changes. If the dominos start falling at an increasing pace, as recent info is suggesting in enerst, then things will likely get very ugly indeed. The momentum in all the wrong directions is just to great and humanity will attempt to prop up the nonsensical paradigms that have brought us to this place until its far, far too late to stop the carnage.
