Here's the Dictionary.com definition of pH and Alkalinity:
pH = A measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution, numerically equal to 7 for neutral solutions, increasing with increasing alkalinity and decreasing with increasing acidity. The pH scale commonly in use ranges from 0 to 14.
Alkalinity = pH values above 7.
Apparently, you're right. I must have misread the pH. With the high alkalinity reading the pH should have been higher. The test kit strips I used change color and then matched against a color chart. The variations in color are subtle so one could easily misread the results.
Just for curiousity, I'll retest on my next visit to the Springs.
