The Northridge Quake made a very loud BANG.
That web site shows no recent quaking activities in my area. I can not say that for your area.
Smoking is a very bad and unnatural habit. Instead I like doing push ups and sit ups , hundreds ofem.
Loud bangs are common in slot canyons. Usually it is a large boulder falling from the steep cliffs up above. A real hazard for campers and hikers.
