We've got 8 wildfires raging now in the San Diego area. Roughly 40,000 acres and several homes burned. Thousands of people have been evacuated. Many schools are closed. The air is full of smoke and ash. The Santa Ana winds are blowing up to 70 mph. Fire suppression planes cannot currently do retardant drops due to the intense winds. Firefighting resources are stretched to the limit. The I-15 freeway is closed and San Diego workers have been told to stay off the freeways and stay at home today. No containment is in sight, These fires have the potential to be more devastating than the Cedar Fire of 2003.
