Hello Paul :-) While I certainly hope that Iran is not attacked by this current adminstration under Bush and Cheney, I still have significant concerns that these criminals could still precipitate such an action. Iran with its oil reserves rated at No. 4 in the world, and with its strategic position within the middle east landscape, is a primary target for the PNAC ( project for a new american century ) proponents. Thier immoral ambitions seek to thrust US military control over the middle east treasure trove of the life blood of current affluent economies. Despite all the endless rhetoric about why we are in Iraq, when will the troops come home, the bottom line is, Iraq represents for these PNAC criminals an all important beachhead for thier huge military bases, a perfect environment for massive corporate fraud, and with its No 2 oil reserves, a prize to tempting for Big Oil not to plunder by ruse and charade. Also there is the underlining reality that the US policy moves in the middle east to control the flow of energy, are keeping the US economy afloat, for if we relenquish control of the middle east energy to the countries that actually and reasonably own these precious energy resources, the US economy will quickly founder, not to mention that this energy loss would see US geopolitical stature decrease significantly. An along with all of this is the truth, that US policies regarding these subject is consistently without any reasonable moral basis, in consideration of how we all of the Earth Tribe should treat eachother, which should be in any responsible consideration, guided by an honest interest in the dignity a well being of all who reside on this sphere with us. I fully realize that the interaction between human beings ends in up in truth being fraught with injustices in countless forms, and will continue to be, as in the past, our present, and on into the future. I get the strong feeling, based on all the information I have studied, that our society is headed for a " Crude Awakening " on a multitude of issues. The status quo we have become accustomed to is on the cusp of drastic change, and because of these changes, our social structure will be under pressures the likes of which, we have never experienced. The direction we are going carries with it a momentum of huge proportions. There is too much invested by most in the current paradigm and economic structure regarding energy, and everything else that has run our capitalistic model in the last century. Things are already beginning to un-ravel on a massive scale. So far, we in the affluent societies have been insulated from the mayhem. As the poorer people's of the world have seen thier situations degrade at an excellerated rate, thier loss in quality of life has been sustaining and maintaining the quality of life of those fortunate realatively affluent humans. But as we destroy and degrade the lives of those less fortunate in humanity, we also lay the groundwork for the eventual dramatic decline of our own situations. For the short term, the poor of this world are bearing the brunt of what it takes to make our lifestyles, but critical limits are now being reached, and increasingly, the immoral plundering that has gone on of them, and thier national resources, is reaching its ultimate limit. The burdens we as affluent socities have put the poorer peoples of the world is a ongoing travesty. The pain and suffering we have sown as rich societies in recent decades around the world, will increasingly be manifiesting itself in our own countries. We are quickly reaching the limits of sustainability. There is no grand new lands and people to disadvantage and plunder, as those coming from Europe did when the " discovered " North America some few centuries ago. Then when we became all powerful on the world geo-politcal scene, in large measure because of our intial mass production and dominance regarding the world energy equation, we extended our mayhem across the globe, as currently in the devastating ways of the globalized economic system. This is an economic structure only possible because of our technological ability to pull ever increasing amounts of energy products out of mostly existing, and previously discoverd large deposits, if oil and natural gas. The US is quickly, on a varied host of fronts losing its dominate position regarding world energy. That is the " real " reason 9-11 happened, to act as a catalyst for PNAC ambitions, why we attacked Afganistan, because of huge oil pipline projects that the Taliban wouldn't allow. Why we attacked Iraq, because of its strategic position and vast oil reserves. We are friends with the House Of Saud who control Saudi Arabia for oil. We protect thier illicit control of that country with the US military might, and they give us our economic lifes blood. Bush, Cheney and thier crimminal compadres now would very much like to wreck the Iranian infrastructure with an air asault, thereby disrupting the social integrity of that country in such manner that they are brought to a position of more control regarding US policy and its interest. Russia and China realize clearly the direction the US is headed, and therefore have become much more cooperative with eachother in order to seek to present a counter weight to US ambitions of empire. The US is seeking to fortify its position though the ongoing machinations and policy moves which will be putting in place the constuct that will be the North American Union, or as its frequently called the Security and Prosperity Partnership, which would be moving toward consolidating the US, Canada, and Mexico, into a more complementary economic unit, and also under the ultimate military control of US Northern Command, NorthCom. The rich elite groups who run this world, who control the US economy through thier private Federal Reserve entity, are now adjusting thier plans for the building conflict, and for coming realilties of massive change to come within all our social structures around the world. The US military is an entity of such materialistic size and scope, with so many interest totally vested in its continuance, that it will be wielding influence and power, that I think will be increasingly prone to corrupt policies and actions, as the world scene becomes more stressed and tense because of the building repercussions of energy depletion, climate change calamities, increasing water scarcity, growing social disruption and fighting for the world's quickly depleting important resources, in conjuction with a long list of other ills which will be degrading the qualities of life for us all. So if Bush does not attack Iran, I'm glad for that, but the underlying reality of just what a precipice this country is on regarding the energy that brings the comfortable lives we enjoy, will see any political leaders and the rich elites that control them seeking to go down a similiar road in the name of " US National Security ", since who of them do you really think is willing, or in a postion to stand up to the American People and tell the truth, that we as a nation should morally be looking at ourselves as a people, regarding energy, world resources, and ethical policy towards other humans, and realize that we have to change dramatically our way of doing things, our ways of treating others and other countries. For example, we as 5 percent of the population, should not ethically expect and in essence demand that we shold be able to consume 25 percent of world resources and energy. This is by any measure of considerations of human dignity, not a fair or equitable situation. And yet, by any measure, these disparities and enequities are increasing. Still, we must do what we can to try and stop such things, we must speak truth to power, en mass if possible, we must speak these truths to ourselves and not hide them within. Without a reasonable set of moral standards and ethical guidlines to guide our conduct in this life, what are we really then as a result, just a bunch of sharks with independent interest, each trying to best the other, just as is the manner of most of our so called leaders these days? We as individuals, must be the solid base from which a true ethical manner issues forth as actions, which will serve to help create a world more sane and considerate regarding the dignity of all in humanity, not just for the privilaged few.
