HB council eyes nudity ban tonight
Naked resident waved to passersby from home, outraging some.

Michael Ferreira could have been your typical downtown resident. He often left open the doors and windows to his home. He lounged on his patio, waving to passersby – cigarette in one hand and a beer in the other.
But neighbors said there was one problem: He was often in the nude.
"We called him the naked man," said neighbor Dawn Melton.
The naturist caused such uproar in the community that Huntington Beach police Chief Kenneth Small plans to ask City Council members Monday to ban public nudity.
Currently, state and city law allows police to arrest someone who is nude only if they are displaying behavior indicating sexual gratification. Police officials said they want to make it illegal for persons to be nude in public or private areas that can be seen by the public....................
