Trip report 6/27-28

Arrived at the ranch at 10:30 about the same time as the cloud cover which made for a nice hike down. Many campers were set up at the beach before you cross over. Lots of trash and belongings strewn about. Wonder hussy arrived around 3:30. Many great photos were taken. Decent crowd.. no riff raff. Everyone was very social and festivities went fairly late.. til about 1:30 am.
Temperatures were warm but not hot due to the clouds. No sleeping bag required whatsoever.
Sunday was very interesting. Morning sun followed but clouds again. We packed everything up and collected lots of trash. Most of the folks from the day before had left and a slow stream of visitors trickled in and then THUNDER. We had about 10 lightening strikes before and after an impressive deluge. It came down in buckets for about 10 minutes and then trickled off to a very light drizzle for the next few hours. Our packs were wet but not soaked but must have added a good 5 lbs each to our gear. The rain helped to solidify some of the trail heading out which was nice and the light drizzle had a slight cooling effect.
