I called the lab in San Bernardino. They said the samples they test from the water district are generally to check for a specific thing which is why the test for most of these samples is 10 dollars. The lab generally does not do a comprehensive test looking for everything but at times people who keep track of well water do these test to meet government regulations and this overall test cost $2,900, eek! Also he said thier information on various substances is geared to identify the problems associtated with ingested water and does not identify the problems associated with skin contact as in our problem. Even if an amount of a given substance was identifyed in the water they could not tell you if that amount was a problem or what syptoms it would cause on the surface of the skin. It may be difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of this problem. The PH test of the water is and easy first step. As I suggested before maybe the Forestry dept can help.
