I was hiking along Deep Creek on Saturday, and later in the day worked my way along the creek to DCHS. I could see big groups of people heading back up the trail leaving the springs. Even with all those people already on thier way out, there were still lots of people at the springs, pretty much a three ring circus, with lots of tents, lots of fires, motorcycles riding around by the big sand bar, etc. I talked to Ron Mercer on Sunday, and he had been down at DCHS on Saturday also, but had left before I arrived, and he said it was pretty much a bummer scene with all the groups of younger people down for the day, bringing with them as Ron said, " everything but the kitchen sink ". I think I'll just pass on thru to quieter areas of the canyon, next time its like that. Just don't enjoy seeing all the fools degrade that precious place :-(
