I went to DCHS on Friday, and met with a friend Nevada Naturist who came into town, and was visiting DCHS with his friend. We all got down there around midday. The air temps had cooled down from previous days, and the humidty thats been around for a while was less. Looking so beautiful along the creek, with all the various green shades of the trees and bushes. The creek is a very pleasant temp. The stream flow is very low, with lots of algae and stream plants growing in the still standing waters in the pools along the creek. The water in the lagoon is low enough, that I found a hot water flow at the base of the big cliff that I had never seen before, just south of the Arizona Pool, and across the creek from the shower area. The flow is just above water level, and feels like its maybe close to 114 degrees. The sand comes up close to the surface in that area, and its a great place to sit in the cool creek waters. It was a very quite day, as visitors go. There were two other people there as we arrived, but these two soon left, and for a time, I think it was just us three there. Later one person arrived, then towards sunset more people started coming in. We met a woman named Marya, who was there with her friend Alasandra. Marya works with healing through the use of music ( outofthesilence.org ). We all had a nice chat in the shade of a Sycamore Tree :-) When I got home after the hike, I found that I had quite a few mosquito bites. They are more abundant I would imagine because of all the warm, still, and algae filled pools along the creek. The cottonwoods on the west side of DCHS Del Mar are growing rapidly, bright green and healthy. The one pretty large cottonwood which stands by the hotwater source of the Arizona Pool is suffering, with the few leaves it has being light green and yellow. Perhaps the hotwater is affecting its root system. On the drive home I saw a lone thunderstorm way off east of Lucerne Valley, that had lightning flashes in occasionally. Wish we would get some more thunderstorms and rain here locally :-( Fun to see my friends on such a nice quiet and scenic day at the springs :-)
