I just came from the springs. The temperature today reached 94F but light wind made it very pleasant.
The textile to nakid ratio was 60:40 with Camping Bares taking credit for paving the way( usually the ratio is like 90:10 on weekends).
A gatekeeper at the Bowen Ranch told me that there was a cleanup effort a day or two before. Indeed I could not find too
much trash in the near vicinity of the pools. Nevertheless, I spent about 6 hrs today to collect 10 bags of trash and some broken
camping equipment. I talked two groups of people into each taking a bag. Ron also picked up some broken camping equipment.
I carried the heaviest bag after I collected trash on the Bowen Ranch side of the beach. I dropped the bag at the lower parking
lot as I was very exhausted and could not carry it any further. If you plan on parking in that lot, please bring a couple of spare bags
in case animals tear mine off. I dropped the bag near the wooden sign. There was a bike parked there if I recall.
That left us with 7 more bags + some camping equipment that I left hanging and near the sign that says that Deep Creek HS
is a day use area. Andrea mentioned that she might relocate the bags to the Bowen Ranch side of the beach.
Please bring some extra large bags in case animals tear any of them off and in case you'd like to split the bags into smaller and lighter
portions. I tried not to make them very heavy to begin with but my light might not be your light.
Appreciate your help in advance in removing the trash from the springs.
P.S. There are 2 piles of human and/or dog poop next to the channel that feeds the new Contemplation pool.
The poop was fresh so I could not scoop it up with my trash picker. I think it would be dry enough for removal tomorrow.
If you come, please bring a small shovel. Otherwise, it's a matter of time until someone accidentally kicks it into the channel.
