I'm not getting into the argument as to whether Mike Castro is a good guy or a bad guy. However, I can't resist pointing out that this is a specious argument. I don't know of a single paid-parking lot anywhere that guarantees the safety of your car. The next time you park at the airport, downtown, the theatre -- anywhere you have to pay for parking -- just take a look at the fine print on the little ticket you get. The first thing it says is: "We are not responsible for any damage or theft to your car". Why should it be any different for the Bowen Ranch? Setting aside the argument over "who owns the Bowen Ranch" and who has a right to be there, you are entering private property and the owner of that property has a right to charge you for access if he so wishes. Even Katrina stated in a previous post that if her organization (DCHS, Inc.) were to take over the Bowen Ranch, she would have to levey some charges for overnight camping in order to generate revenue to maintain the property.
No one likes to have to pay for a Forest Adventure Pass. No one likes to have to pay to park anywhere. While we may grumble about it, we accept it as a fact of life without making a major stink about it. Something tells me you (Free Our Forests) just want everything in life to be free. It ain't gonna happen. And, FOF, if you want us to take you seriously, learn to spell the word "budget".
