I had intended to answer sooner, and apologize for getting distracted.
Most OHV riders in our region would agree that it serves their own interests to ride responsibly. Although having intent to do so, they lack information as to legal use.
As I said, the BLM signs advising that OHV riding be confined to signed open routes disappear almost immediately. Your suggestion to replace them with permanent heavy metal signs is an excellent one and the Friends of Juniper Flats have made that suggestion to BLM Barstow. They responded that funds are not available for heavy signs, and besides, signs are specified by government regulation.
On DUSA, Dan Clark accuses FOJF of being deceitful and underhanded, but as yet has been unable to provide any supporting information. On the other contrary, we should be challenging the ethics of Ed Waldheim of CORVA, who has worked against our efforts to advise the public as to legal OHV usage in our region.
