I appreciate Kevin's perspective and hope that he will continue to post his views in this forum.
Laughing Bear is a highly respected member of this community. He has long been active in promoting dialogue as a way of resolving land use issues. Since rogue riders on Juniper Flats usually respond with a raised finger and a roost, participation in a forum would have seemed to offer an opportunity to develop mutual respect and understanding and put peer pressure on the lawbreakers. Why is this effort not working?
DUSA would benefit from having oversight by a webmaster like Rick. On this forum, we are warned if we are disrespectful of other posters. When one of the regular posters went "whacko", ignored warnings and threatened others, he was banned from posting.
I responded to this thread because Dan Clark not only trashed a respected member of our community, he trashed the entire community. As I said earlier, maybe he should take time to get to know us.
Most of us have OHV's of one kind or another and we are not hostile to OHV use on Juniper Flats. However, we do object to visitors who ride lawlessly and destructively in this region. We don't respond violently, but we are working effectively to change attitude, promote law enforcement and propose legislation where needed.
