...A GULF OF ALASKA SYSTEM WILL IMPACT THE AREA MONDAY...

...STRONG OFFSHORE WINDS WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY...

A WEATHER SYSTEM FROM THE GULF OF ALASKA WILL MOVE INTO SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA VERY LATE TONIGHT OR EARLY MONDAY. A COLD FRONT WILL
LIKELY BRING RAIN ON MONDAY...BUT COULD BEGIN IN SOME AREAS AS EARLY
AS LATE TONIGHT. RAINFALL AMOUNTS WILL GENERALLY BE A QUARTER TO
HALF AN INCH IN COASTAL AND VALLEY AREAS...HALF INCH TO A LITTLE
OVER AN INCH IN THE MOUNTAINS AND LESS THAN A QUARTER INCH IN THE
DESERTS. THE SNOW LEVEL WILL FALL FROM 6000 FEET MONDAY TO 5000 FEET
MONDAY NIGHT...AND A FEW INCHES OF SNOW WILL BE POSSIBLE AT THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS. AREAS OF FOG AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS WILL OCCUR AT TIMES
IN THE MOUNTAINS. THE STORM WILL EXIT THE AREA TUESDAY MORNING WITH
GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS IN THE MOUNTAINS AND DESERTS. RAINFALL COULD
CAUSE DEBRIS FLOW OR MUD SLIDES IN AND BELOW RECENTLY BURNED AREAS
OR ON STEEP TERRAIN.

SANTA ANA WINDS WILL DEVELOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. OFFSHORE
FLOW WILL CAUSE LOCAL STRONG GUSTY WINDS THROUGH AND BELOW MOUNTAIN
CANYONS AND PASSES WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. THE STRONGEST WINDS
SHOULD BE THURSDAY MORNING. MUCH LOWER HUMIDITIES WILL COMBINE WITH
THE WIND TO CREATE AN ELEVATED FIRE DANGER.

PEOPLE PLANNING TRAVEL IN THE MOUNTAINS MONDAY THROUGH EARLY
TUESDAY SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINTER WEATHER...INCLUDING POSSIBLE
SNOW ON THE ROADS...FOG AND GUSTY WINDS. LOCAL GUSTY WINDS WILL MAKE
DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES...MUCH OF
THIS WEEK. WATCH FOR BROKEN TREE LIMBS AND DOWNED POWER LINES.
