Planning First Trip to DCHS in Years

Greetings! Just found this forum and it's a wealth of information. I'm planning on making a trip out this coming weekend some time (July 14 or 15) and wonder if there's any advice with respect to current conditions at Bowen Ranch, the trail, or the springs that I should be aware of. Also, does anyone know the current condition of the dirt road to the Freedom Trial parking area - I have Honda Pilot and wonder if the road conditions have worsened since my last visit a few years back to the point that it would be advisable to avoid and just park at Bowen Ranch... Looks like the trail has remained open for free hiking, yes? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
