On my recent hikes to Deep Creek I have been getting bites from what I think are biting midges ( common name no see ums ). Sometimes there will even be multiple bites in a small localized area, like on my arm there were about six bites right next to eachother. The bites for many people ( like myself ) are very itchy and can last for a week or more and they are much more itchy than mosquito bites. I'm wondering if any other visitors to Deep Creek/DCHS are getting bites too. Here is a link for No See Ums:
