Recently, a sand rail travelling at high speed failed to negotiate Dead Man's curve on Bowen Ranch Rd. and swerved into oncoming traffic, injuring a local resident. Both the resident's vehicle and the sand rail were heavily damaged.
Bowen Ranch Rd. is a county-maintained road and is closed to green sticker vehicles. Locals have been tolerant of this illegal usage, however continuing OHV lawlessnes including rogue biker's recent destruction of the public restoration effort in Arrastre Canyon will have unfortunate consequence for responsible riders seeking to maintain riding opportunity.
The owner of the sand rail defended his excessive speed, saying his machine was intended for racing and could not be easily throttled down on County roads.
Duh!
