Excellent map Rick :-) It corresponds exactly with where I saw the fire, above DCHS. There is a ridge, that comes down from the upper right hand corner of this map, and ends at a point where Kinely Creek hits Deep Creek. Somewhere high along this ridge is where is saw the water dropping helicopters, appearing to be working an area on the norths side of deep creek. Perhaps the fire started some small spot fires on the north side. I'll get down that way and check it out, once things open back up. You can see how close the fire line was to the hotsprings ( under the W ). I can't clearly read the mileage indicator on that map, was the fire within a half mile or so? Glad to see that it has not reached the springs, so far. These weekend Santa Ana winds might stir something up.
