There's good reason for conspiracy theories'

By Dane Wigington

Like Pavlov's dogs, the majority of the American public has been thoroughly trained to mentally shut down at the mere mention of the word conspiracy. Last Monday's Record Searchlight editorial relies primarily on this premise.

Take the event of 9/11 away from this administration and the military-industrial complex, and it has no ground to pursue its agenda whatsoever. The date is undeniably the administration's mantra. Though the Bush administration fought any investigation whatsoever till the last hour, it finally succumbed to pressure and allowed the 9/11 Commission on the condition that a milelong list of restrictions was imposed on it, including the administration's picking of its members. Have we all forgotten that President Bush and Dick Cheney flatly refused to testify under oath and allowed only a private interview with handpicked 9/11 board members? No recording was permitted and even notes taken had to be approved by Bush and Cheney. The editorial paints a picture of wonder at how "theorists" can excuse anything the administration says as untrue. From Iraq's nonexistent weapons of mass destruction to the Iraq-al-Qaida connection that never existed to past denials of anthropogenic climate change, almost nothing this administration says is or has been true.

Never in the history of carbon- fueled fires has a modern steel-framed, high-rise collapsed. Never. We are supposed to believe that the twin towers (as well as a 50-story building 7, which took no impact of any kind) collapsed at the speed of a free-falling object from a carbon fire that structural physicists state could barley attain just over half the temperature needed for even a chance of structural failure, which still would not cause a free fall? Never in the modern history of this country has such a tragedy been categorically denied any postevent investigation of the site by independent agencies before the slate was wiped clean. Never.

There is a list of unanswered questions far too numerous to list that were never even asked by the 9/11 Commission, and the data contained in its report was largely parroted from administration sources with no outside investigation. The so-called "debunking" of this issue printed in Popular Mechanics cited a single individual's unsubstantiated statements as its source for disputing this conspiracy, a 25-year-old federal employee who is a relative of Michael Chertoff. Are we to accept information from such sources as indisputable fact?

No 9/11, no license for pre-emptive war for the pursuit of resources and empire.

There are more than a dozen extremely well-documented books on this horrific crime. There are also numerous documentary films with extensive and shocking film footage you will never see on Fox.

The simple reason such an event can occur largely without objective investigation by the majority is the same as it has always been throughout human history: The majority does not bother with any inconvenient pursuit of independent facts. For most, the possible conclusions are quite simply far too threatening to their "reality." ................

This article was written by my brother this Monday, 8-14 and was put in the " speak your piece " section of the Redding, Record Searchlight newspaper. Most folks hear the phrase " Conspiracy Theory " uttered and they immedietly disconnect from the subject matter being discussed, and they envision the rantings of some crazed lunatic, living in some small cabin in a remote location of Idaho. World events and information about them should be judged on the merits of the arguments presented, and not by the reference to a simple phrase like " Conspiracy Theory ". This phrase is used wholesale by this administration as a means to discredit various information that would put them in jeopardy, and cause the public to start to wonder about the truthfullness of what they have been told. This administration will use any such means at thier disposal, to keep you blind to thier criminal, and un-ethical actions and behavior. Those that really don't want to take the time to understand the truth of events through diligent efforts and thoughtful research, can just easily say to themselves, thats just a Conspiracy Theory, absolving them of any further need to explore the validity of the subject at hand.
